Quantifying number and size of fluorescent regions within a surface
 

Hi IMARIS gurus,


I am currently imaging CellTracker labelled spheroids that include a GFP based apoptosis dye. The dye fluoresces in regions of apoptosis and I'd like to quantify how many regions and what size these individual regions are. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Hi Peter,

with the ImarisCell module you can easily achieve this. Indeed you would use the "Cell" compound to model the spheroids, and the "Nucleus" compound to model you apoptosis regions as surfaces within the first "Cell" compound. Imaris would give you the statistics of how many apoptosis regions you have per individual spheroid, and as well their size and volume. They would just appear listed as "nuclei" in Imaris due to the model we use, but you would get the result you are looking for.

If you don't have this module within your Imaris installation, please contact your local Bitplane sales representative, who can also provide you with a trial version for the ImarisCell module.
